April 7, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Event Navigation
“This April marks the 23rd anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide. As an act of remembrance, educational outreach, and to help support the people of Rwanda, Miramichi Worldwide will be offering a screening of the film “Shooting Dogs”.
This event will take place at the Vogue Theatre on Friday, April 7th from 7:30pm-9:30pm. Admission is free but we will be accepting donations to help build a community centre in Rwanda.
Students from the James M. Hill “World Reality Education” group will also be on-hand selling 50/50 tickets and selling their clothing line which includes hats, hoodies, t-shirts, and more. All proceeds from the 50/50 and clothing sales go towards helping orphans in Uganda.
Students from the MVHS Rotary Club will be selling concessions and all proceeds will be going towards their various initiatives in our community and worldwide.
“Shooting Dogs” is a powerful depiction of the genocide loosely based on the true story of Father Vjekoslav Curic (aka “The Schindler of Rwanda”). Father Curic is credited with attempting to save hundreds of Tutsis during the genocide while hundreds of thousands were butchered just outside the walls of the school he helped run.”
