At least in handwriting. Studies show that the bigger your handwriting, the bigger your personality. People with large writing tend to be gregarious, outgoing and a bit showy. They enjoy being the center of attention. Big writers are also very generous with their time, money and love. On the other hand (pun intended), people with small writing tend to be shy, introverted and private. Small writers can also be meticulous perfectionists too and tend to be a little tight with the wallet. If you have average size handwriting, it means you are well adjusted, flexible and adapt easily to change.
The space between your words also reveals clues about your quirks and habits. If you have wide spacing, it means you enjoy your own space. You put up good boundaries. Wide spacers don’t like crowds and prefer cozy nights in with their partner to a big party. You need your freedom – even on paper! People with narrow spacing love being with others. These are the people who tend to have 50 best friends. Studies show, however, that narrow spacers tend to have poor time management – possibly because they are trying to cram too much into one day.
Your style of writing is significant too. If you tend to have a lot of pointy letters, it means you are smart, ambitious and intense. You are probably your own worst critic. Pointy letter writers are hard on themselves but patient with others. If your letters are round, this means you are creative, flexible and artistic. Rounders like to avoid conflict and tend to be people pleasers. People who add a high flying end stroke on their letters are attention seekers. People who write in all caps are very private and do not like to reveal anything about themselves.
Dot Your “I’s”
Don’t forget to dot your i’s because this too reveals aspects of the real you. If you have a high dot over your i, it means you have a great imagination and think outside the box. If your dot tends to lean to the left, you might be a procrastinator. This can also indicate someone who has a hard time letting things go. If your dot lands to the right, it reveals someone who is detail oriented but forward thinking. People who dot their eyes with stars or hearts tend to have a bubbly personality. You wear rose colored glasses and tend to see the best in everyone.
Cross Your “T’s”
If you cross your t toward the top making it look more like a crucifixion, this means you think well of yourself. You have no problem making yourself a priority. High crossers can be a bit arrogant and tend to be ambitious at work. If your bar is long it means you’re very focused and determined. You’re a good planner and get things done. A short cross bar reveals someone who is stubborn and might lack focus with long term goals. A bar right in the center indicates someone who is well balanced with a generous spirit.
The Lie Detector
Some graphologists believe that you can tell if someone is lying by their handwriting. If someone’s handwriting is different than it normally looks, this can indicate a lie. Bunched up, tight handwriting can also point to lying because the liar is trying to hide from their lying ways even on paper. Someone who always adds double loops in their cursive O’s are said to be pathological liars. Handwriting expert Bart Baggett says, “Inner loops that cross over signify a person who is not comfortable telling the whole truth. The bigger the loops, the bigger the lies.”
Your signature reveals how you like to present yourself to the world. If your signature is illegible, it means you like your privacy. You don’t like to reveal too much of yourself too soon. You can come off as secretive and aloof, but really you’re just careful about who you trust. If your signature is legible it means you’re very sure of yourself, and you have nothing to hide. If you add flourishes, it can indicate someone who likes to put on airs. If you leave out letters in your name, it can mean there are aspects of yourself you’d like to change.
Try it Out!
Take out a piece of paper and write a simple sentence. Then look at it and see if what the studies say are accurate for you. This can also be very helpful information when you’re first dating someone or if you’re looking to hire someone who will be a good fit for your company. Like first impressions, our handwriting tells people who we really are. If your handwriting is weak and shaky, you might be suffering from anxiety or low self-esteem. If your handwriting is strong and bold, people will see you as confident and strong. We all tend to wear masks as we go about our day, but our true self will always be revealed in our handwriting.
