SEARCH FUNDING

The federal and provincial governments are putting almost a million dollars
into training programs for about 400 volunteer ground search and rescue
teams.

The project will provide basic and advanced training for all teams in the
province. It will also create a provincial ground search and rescue training
centre in Miramichi.

The training project is valued at 957-thousand dollars.

MILL MEETING

(UPDATE 9 AM – MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED)

A public information meeting will be held this evening on the proposed $46
million Saw Mill and Pellet Mill in Blackville. The project would see a fomer
mill rebuilt and a Pellet Mill added.

The Information meeting will discuss job opportunities, wood supply and
finances for the project. It takes place at 6:30pm at the Blackville Village
Hall.

VOLLEYBALL CLINICS

Mirmachi Volleyball will be holding instructional clinics getting underway
this weekend. The seven week program starts this Saturday, September 16th.
You can register the day of at the Miramichi Valley High School Gym from
9-to-1130. Mini-Diggers ages 8-to-10 goes from 9-to-10am. Super Spikers ages
11-to-13 goes from 10am-1130. Cost to register is $45 or less with family
rates.

Equifax-Canada

Canada’s Privacy Commissioner office is working with protection authorities
in Canada and elsewhere to find out what went wrong in a massive Equifax
cyberattack.

The hack exposed personal information of as many as 143 million Americans, as
well as a limited number of Canadian and U-K residents.

The stolen information could leave victims vulnerable to identity theft. (18)

In baseball…the Jays came from behind to edge Baltimore 3-2. Red Sox
handled the A’s easily 11-1. Yankees lost 2-1 to Tampa bay.
