FRED POLICE SHOOTING (10:40am)

Four people, including two police officers, have been killed in an early morning shooting in Fredericton. Fredericton Police have confirmed that two of the victims were members of the police force – and say one suspect has been taken into custody. A large police, fire and ambulance presence remains on the scene of the shooting on Brookside Drive in Fredericton and the neighborhood has been cordoned off. Police first issued a warning about the shooting around 8:30 am this morning advising local residents and businesses to stay inside and lock their doors. They also pleaded with the public not to record or report on the exact whereabouts of police over social media. Fredericton’s fire department tweeted that shots rang out around 8:20 am this morning – but some residents are reporting multiple series of shots that started as early as 7 am. Few other details have been released with Fredericton police saying they are dealing with an ongoing investigation.
