A Riverview teen whose campaign to spread kindness spread around the world,
has passed away.

Becca Schofield died Saturday night in hospital finally succumbing to a brain
cancer. She was 18.

During her treatment for cancer she went on Twitter asking people to perform
simple acts of kindness and post them to #BeccaToldMe To…..and the response
was overwhelming….not just in Riverview and the Maritimes…but around the

On her Facebook page, her father, Darren, said she passed away at the Moncton
Hospital with family by her side. He thanked those who participated in her
campaign for giving her “strength and courage throughout her journey. He said
those people gave her the profound blessing of knowing in her too short life
that she had made a difference.


Family day

It’s the first Family Day in New Brunswick….and you may be wondering what’s
closed. Pretty well everything is closed.

There’s no school, government offices are shut down as are malls and loiquor
stores, except for some agency stores and the usual convenience stores open
on holidays.



Corner stores and gas stations in New Brunswick could face fines if they
don’t take over-the-counter medications off their shelves.

The New Brunswick College of Pharmacists claims that the crackdown on
unregulated stores selling non-prescription drugs is in the public’s

Stores are being asked to return drugs on the college’s list such as Gravol,
Advil and Tylenol.

Pharmacist Dennis Abud claims statistics indicate some people have been
hospitalized because of medication mismanagement.


Missing man

RCMP is asking for the public’s help locating a 37-year-old Moncton man.

Michael Maurice Tessier was last seen on St. George Street around noon
Saturday. The Mounties would like to speak with Tessier because of concerns
for his wellbeing. Attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful.

Tessier is described as white, five-foot-ten feet tall weighing 154 pounds.
Tessier has blue eyes and shoulder length light brown hair.

Anyone with information on Tessier’s whereabouts is asked to contact RCMP or
Crime Stoppers.



Students who escaped the deadly school shooting in Florida are now focusing
their anger at President Donald Trump.

David Hogg, a 17-year-old student speaking on N-B-C’s ”Meet the Press”,m
says Trump’s response to the shooting has been needlessly divisive.

In Hogg’s words: ”You’re the president. You’re supposed to bring this nation
together, not divide us — How dare you.”

Survivors are now vowing to be the face of a movement for tighter firearm
regulations, calling for anti-gun violence rallies in D-C and other cities
March 24th.



In NASCAR, Austin Dillon won the Daytona 500 after making contact with leader
Aric Almirola on the last lap.

On Saturday, the MVHS Boys hockey team defeated Tracadie WAL 7-5

In the Q-League….The Wildcats lost 8-3 to Rimouski at the Coliseum

In the NHL…the Leafs clipped the Red Wings 3-2. Jets beat Florida 7-2.
Oilers doubled Colorado 4-2. The Penguins downed the Blue Jackets 5-2.
